About Us
Abilities Worldwide aims to raise awareness, interest and opportunity for people with exceptional abilities. We have established a strong foundation by answering questions and clarifying misconceptions about accessibility, adaptive assistance and enterprise through training, consultation and opportunity. As a community leader and disability awareness advocate, the founding of AWW is a life-long dream realized.
AWW is at its core about building confidence, change, and independence through a focus on the positive for individuals with exceptional abilities.
In 2007 women with disabilities expressed their need to have an entity which can support their livelihood through their work in creative arts. This is how Disability Hub was started by involving 23 women and then it became 520 women in span of 2 year. Women would make jewellery, handicrafts and beauty products.
In 2008, Disability Hub continued to become a web portal of providing resource information and offered training programs to social enterprises. In 2019, the team felt the need to change its name as Abilities Worldwide (AWW) as this will give a positive framework to the term Disability and a magazine called Momentum was launched. AWW continues to operate under Disability Hub.
It is not just those we seek to include who benefit, but those who are either directly or indirectly associated with the inclusion experience as well. Creating positive enterprise partnerships and planned inclusion training results in the development of champions changing the way that individuals with extraordinary abilities experience the world.
Equipping individuals with the soft and hard skills are critical – strategies and support to ensure sustainable success for those with disabilities and for successful workplaces modeling inclusive environments.
